|Church Walk 2015 (denne gang på engelsk)|
Tuesday 20th January 2015
At 18:30 the annual “church walk” will be held for the 61st time.
This is the jubilee year for the very first “church walk”, which was held in 1955 in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. This ecumenical event was started by Dean Borregaard, Chairman of the Fellowship of St. Alban and St. Sergius in Denmark and has continued every year during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (18th – 25th January in 2015) since then.
This year participants will be welcomed at St. Paul’s Church in Nyboder (Danish Lutheran) by the church’s new priest, Kathrine Lilleør. Since the next churches do not have room for everyone, the church walk will continue in two groups to Jerusalem Church (Methodist), St. Alexander Nevsky Church (Russian Orthodox), St. Ansgar’s Cathedral (Roman Catholic) and St. Alban’s Church (Anglican). The final stop is Gustaf Church (Swedish Lutheran) where the two groups will be united, and where Revd. Ole Birch from the Methodist Church will preach on the theme for the Week of Prayer, which is: Jesus said to her “Give me a drink” (John 4:7).
The whole of the church walk is intended to be one long liturgical process, built up of the different parts of the service. However, it is also important that each church’s musical and liturgical character is reflected, so that there is sense of unity in our diversity.
Depending on the weather, there are usually about 700 participants, but please don’t let this stop you from joining in.

Amen
